Caroline County Commissioners Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Denton, Maryland

About the Department:The Department of Emergency Services is responsible for providing advanced Emergency Medical Services (EMS), emergency planning and coordination for County government, and emergency communications, including 911 dispatch, police communications for the Sheriffs Office and four town police departments, and fire and rescue communications for eight volunteer fire companies and the county EMS responders.

About the Job: This is a full time skilled specialized work as a Maryland Certified Emergency Medical Technician. A self- motivated, responsible person with administrative duties. Performs necessary emergency medical care on sick, injured, or convalescent persons at the site of an incident and in route to the hospital or other destination as prescribed by MIEMSS.

Required Knowledge, SKILLS, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of emergency health care procedures and patient condition evaluations.

``` - Ability to properly evaluate patient condition and render emergency medical care.

``` - Ability to operate emergency vehicles.

``` - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, peers, the public, fire departments, MIEMSS, and hospitals in the surrounding area.

``` - Ability to maintain certification as a Maryland *EMT or higher as prescribed by *MIEMSS.

``` - Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. and Maryland-licensed Emergency Medical Technician.

REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

NOTE: All required licenses and certificates must be acquired at the applicants expense.

  • Maryland-licensed Emergency Medical Technician
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Certified in C.P.R. at the Health Care Provider level.
  • *MFRI hazard material operations within six months after employment
  • *EVOC or acceptable equivalent course within six months after employment
  • PEPP course within six months of hire

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • One year experience as a *EMT
  • *BTLS certified
  • *MFRI Fire Fighter I certification

Salary Rate:Starting at $44,020/Annually*

*This includes scheduled overtime when normal schedule is all worked.
