Position Overview: As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will play a pivotal role in delivering top-notch emergency care to our patients. Working alongside a team of experienced veterinarians and dedicated professionals, you will be integral to ensuring positive outcomes for pets and providing peace of mind to their owners.

  • Patient Triage: Quickly and accurately assess and prioritize patient needs in emergency situations.

  • Nursing Care: Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to critically ill or injured pets.

  • Medication Administration: Safely administer fluids, medications, and blood products as prescribed.

  • Monitoring: Vigilantly monitor patients under sedation or anesthesia, ensuring their safety and well-being.

  • Laboratory Work: Perform microscopic analysis of blood, urine, and other samples to assist in diagnosis and treatment.

  • Client Communication: Effectively communicate with pet owners regarding the status and care of their pets.

  • You are a confident and skilled Registered Veterinary Technician dedicated to outstanding client service and excellent patient care.

  • You must have a strong foundational understanding and can perform the basic responsibilities of a veterinary technician including (but not limited to):

  • Venipuncture

  • Placing IV Catheters

  • Drug Calculations

  • Administration of Medications (IV or other methods)

  • Taking Vitals

  • Gathering Medical History

    Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited Veterinary Technology program.

  • Certification: Successful completion of the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE).

  • Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Eastern Veterinary Technicians Association (EVTA) and the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association (NSVMA).

  • Experience: Experience in emergency medicine is preferred, but we are open to applicants with a strong background in general practice who are eager to transition into emergency care.
