Geisinger Information Systems Auditor Intermediate in Danville, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Responsible for conducting the examinations and evaluations of the adequacy and effectiveness of the organization's system of internal control and the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities as defined in the Internal Audit Charter. Focuses on the Information Technology aspects of the organization and to include the areas of systems development, data processing applications, data center operations, data processing administration/operations, data processing security, and disaster recovery.

Job Duties

  • Completes reviews of IT systems to ensure compliance with applicable policies, plans, procedures, laws, established frameworks, industry best practices and regulations which could have a significant impact on operations Independently researches frameworks, external guidance and regulatory requirements to establish expected controls and applicable regulations specific to the audit area.

  • Develops test objective and test procedures in audit program and executes defined test objectives and procedures to validate the effectiveness and efficiency of controls with the assistance of management.

  • Conducts testing of the Geisinger internal control environment, through the completion of Model Audit Rule testing and Internal Controls Testing.

  • Acts independently as a project manager on assigned engagements.

  • Manages established resources allocations, time lines and triages issues from the assigned audit team.

  • Leads engagement meetings and communications.

  • Provides assistance in annual audit planning to determine IS audit objectives based on risk assessments.

  • Assists in the time budgeting and resource allocation necessary to meet established objectives.

  • Obtains and analyzes supporting documentation to formulate an informed, objective opinion of the control environment for the process or system being reviewed.

  • Supports operational initiatives through participation on oversight and compliance committees.

  • Prepares workpapers showing the results of the assigned areas being audited.

  • Prepares formal written audit reports and makes oral and written presentations to all levels of senior management throughout all phases of audit engagements.

  • Compiles recommendations to address audit issues identified and aids management in formulating corrective action plans using root cause analysis.

  • Provides or assists in providing information systems support to other aspects of the general internal audit process, including utilization of the audit software to produce reports and analysis.

  • Provides education and guidance to IT in a consulting manner regarding expected controls and best practices.

  • Provides mentoring and supervisory guidance to Associate IS audit staff members on an as-needed basis.

  • Utilizes technology and data analysis tools and techniques to increase accuracy and efficiency of audit work and support the continuous auditing process.
