Gichner Systems Group, Inc. Mechanical Design Engineering Intern in Dallastown, Pennsylvania
Reference #: 85347-363963 GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: To assist mechanical engineers in designs that meet cost and schedule objectives and customer requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Designs shelters and mechanical modifications such as rack installations, ECU installations, entry panel installations and miscellaneous ancillary items. Attends job kick-off meetings and participates in design reviews with customers. Reviews customer requirements including customer specifications, Statements of Work, and interface drawings in order to ensure compliance with contract. Prepares and updates task lists. Tracks schedules and budgets on assigned programs. Issues long lead material. Provides technical input to CAD design team on various tasks. Reviews and approves drawings. Interfaces with other departments to resolve questions and technical issues. Creates technical proposals, technical materials, and procurement specifications. Supports the Sales department in proposal development and engineering estimates. Reviews vendor/shop drawings, quotes and proposals. Submits Engineering Change Proposals (ECPis). Interfaces with customers and contracts to resolve customer related issues. Contributes to product improvement, new products and product standardization. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary Ability to adhere to workplace rules EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: In process of obtaining a BS or MS degree in Engineering. Detailed understanding and application of technical documentation and engineering processes and practices. Ability to review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPis). Ability to generate compliant documentation. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project. WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Office and manufacturing environment Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones) Ability to lift iup to 10 pounds From: Kratos Defense
