  • This role is part of the Crew Schedule Planning team that builds the monthly work schedules for AA’s roughly 11,000 pilots and 22,000 flight attendants.

What you'll do

As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.

  • Ensures that monthly crew schedules are published in accordance with applicable company policy, APA and APFA agreements, and FAR’s.

  • Develops procedures and guidelines to be used in producing crew schedules that minimize coverage problems and operating costs.

  • Implements manpower plans supplied by crew planning group in the development of crew schedules.

  • Analyzes flight schedules for potential challenges regarding crew availability, manpower requirements, and costs.

  • Develops recommendations based on findings for changes needed in the schedule for more efficient and economical operations.

  • Produces cost effective monthly crew schedules that meet the manpower requirements at each base and address crew desires to the extent possible.

  • Coordinates with Network Planning to identify and resolve potential scheduling problems.

  • Proactively communicates changes in crew schedules to appropriate management and union leadership.

  • Work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet all departmental, contractual, and FAR requirements.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 3 years of experience in Crew Planning, Crew Scheduling, Flight, or Inflight

  • Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Knowledge of the processes, systems and terminology used in scheduling flight crews

  • Prior experience with optimization software used in scheduling flight crews

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Satisfactory Attendance and Performance

  • Ability to work under pressure, perform independently and work well with other members of the team.

  • Demonstrated abstract reasoning and critical thinking skills, ability to effectively analyze detailed information, must enjoy solving complex puzzles.

  • Must be computer literate, proficient in desktop computer skills and capable of learning new systems.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills

  • Self-starter must have a positive attitude and strong desire for success.

  • Complete projects on time with minimal supervision, ability to work varied hours when necessary to meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of Flight Crew Federal Aviation Regulation and Crew Working Agreement
