HealthFitness Youth Camp Counselor (Part-time, Seasonal) in Crosby, Minnesota

Join our team as a part-time (up to 24 hours/week) Youth Camp Counselor at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby, MN (15 miles NE of Brainerd). In this role, you will assist in developing and facilitating the summer youth program, leading and mentoring program participants.
Seasonal, up to 24 hours/week, from approximately May 12, 2025 - August 29, 2025
Availability: M-F, between the hours of approximately 8a-5:30p
What you will be doing
Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities.
Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors.
Proactively address and deescalate inappropriate behavior.
Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices.
Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities.
Maintain, clean and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.
Supervise children ranging from ages 5-12 years old.
Clean up after the children every shift.
Play games and other activities with the children.
Make sure the children are checked in and out by parents.
Nurture sharing, sportsmanship and other social skills.
Escort the children to the playground and ball fields.
Other duties as needed/assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 15 years old.
Adult/child/infant CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Council or American Safety & Health Institute required prior to the start of camp. Note: certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA compliant. We can provide certification class if needed.
Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth.
Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
Active listing skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds.
Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
Ability to be a positive role model for program participants.
Compensation: $12/Hour - $16.30/Hour. Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications.
