Position Description:Develops and delivers client specific improvements on legacy applications to support plan administration systems using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JC, VSAM, MQ-Series, and SQL. Implements scalable software application solutions using ETL, Informatica, Java, or Python. Conducts tuning and capacity planning -- ways to reduce I/Os, CPU Time, MSUs, and MIPs -- using Strobe, iStrobe, and Platinum Detector. Performs mainframe application development via formatting and comparing files, using File-AID. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications. Primary Responsibilities:·Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.·Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.·Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.·Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.·Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.·Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.·Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.·Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.·Improves Modernization solutions in Cloud environments.·Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.·Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives. Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software applications in a financial services environment, using Java, Python, and C++.Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software applications in a financial services environment, using Java, Python, and C++.Skills and Knowledge:Candidate must also possess:·Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing application development, automation, and support, using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, IBM MQ-Series, SQL, SPUFI, Cloud To CICS, Java, and Splunk Dynatrace.·DE performing mainframe application development within Time Sharing Option (TSO) and Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) operating system environments, using Endevor and Git for version control, Control-M for scheduling and monitoring, Abend-AID and Intertest for debugging, File-Aid for browsing, and Easytrieve for report generation.·DE performing mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning within TSO and MVS operating system environments, and reducing I/O, CPU Time, Million Service units (MSUs), and Million instructions per second (MIPs), using Strobe, iStrobe, Platinum Detector, and TMON.·DE building applications and performing integration, testing, delivery, and deployment of mainframe components for Web-based applications, using Insomnia, Stratum, Postman, and Data studio.
