M&T Bank 2025 Financial Advisor Development Program (Various Locations) in Cos Cob, Connecticut

Overview:

Completes all required FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) and Insurance licensing and registrations while developing knowledge of investment and insurance industry processes and procedures. This maximum nine-month program prepares trainees for a Financial Consultant position in the short-term and a Financial Advisor position in the longer term.

Primary Responsibilities:

Complete all required FINRA and Insurance licenses and registrations within a nine-month time frame or less, inclusive of FINRA Series 7, 66 (or 65/63) licenses, and resident state health and life insurance licenses.

Participate in a combination of structured classroom sessions, web-based, and on-the-job practical training to learn the systems, processes, and policies associated with the role.

Develop a knowledge of brokerage, advisory and insurance solutions and services as well as related organizational policies, procedures, and programs while refining relationship management skills required for Financial Consultant and Advisor roles.

Learn and adopt new technology, tools, and resources, inclusive of Bank, LPL, and third-party systems needed for the role of a Financial Consultant and Financial Advisor.

Refine relationship management skills, including of call planning and execution skills, that are required of Financial Consultant and Advisor roles.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This training and program oversight is conducted by Wilmington Advisors @ M&T Market and Regional Sales Managers and requires the successful completion of applicable FINRA and Insurance licenses and registrations. Trainees begin in a support role, assisting more senior Financial Advisors in their financial advisory process and managing customer and partner relationships within the Bank. Trainees learn about investment and insurance industry product solutions and culture within the organization, while developing and refining relationship management skills. They will be exposed to the Bank’s sales culture while supporting Financial Advisor customer meetings and daily tasks.

Education and Experience Required:

Combined minimum of 4 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 years’ sales, sales administration, and/or retail banking experience

FINRA SIE (Securities Industry Essentials) exam passing

Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software

Education and Experience Preferred:

FINRA Series 6 and/or 7, 65, and 66 registrations

Pertinent state Life and Health Insurance licenses

Physical Requirements:

Ability and willingness to travel when needed
