Meta Product Design Lead in Cork, Ireland

Summary:

At Meta Reality labs, we are developing the future of Wearables and Augmented Reality (AR) products. As a Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the integration of micro-display arrays into AR systems. You will help drive a series of development cycles and ultimately qualify the display array component for high volume manufacture. This will involve a high degree of collaboration with cross functional teams across multiple sites and working to tight deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Expectation for international travel up to 25% of the time.

Required Skills:

Product Design Lead Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the product development of micro-LED arrays, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including device, manufacturing, downstream integration, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless downstream integration.

  2. Identify gaps in micro-LED array performance vs specification by thoroughly analyzing performance in comparison to product requirements and drive the closure of these gaps by working with design and manufacturing.

  3. Provide statistical analysis of product test data & yields highlighting key gaps to stakeholders.

  4. Translation and communication of data to guide actionable engineering opportunities for optimisation of product performance and factory specifications.

  5. Leveraging or developing innovative data mining, visualization and machine learning methods to solve novel and diverse business problems in performance modeling, anomaly detection and root cause analysis.

  6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process and design optimization.

  7. Develop and maintain product engineering procedures and documentation.

  8. Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk register to document potential risks throughout the product life cycle, including mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure project continuity and product integrity.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Materials Science or similar

  2. 10+ years experience in product engineering in the microelectronics industry (semiconductor wafer processing, active matrix display, sensor arrays or LED development)

  3. Proven experience delivering multiple high volume electronic components through development cycles to product launch, working with cross functional teams and external partners.

  4. Participation in performance and yield management programs in a semiconductor or electronics manufacturing environment.

  5. Experience with failure analysis and reliability of electronic components.

  6. Team player with strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Masters or PhD in a related area.

  2. In-depth experience in one the following industries: semiconductors (particularly compound semiconductors), active matrix displays or sensor arrays.

  3. Product engineering experience delivering electro-optic components such as LEDs, lasers, photodiodes and sensors, and ideally experience with micro-displays or sensor arrays.
