Job Description:

This position will be based in Concord, California to provide support for projects primarily throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as well as the greater Northern California region.

As a Field Industrial Hygienist under supervision, you will conduct field observations, area monitoring, exposure assessments, indoor air quality assessments, and assist project managers with industrial hygiene inspections. Perform field studies including airborne chemical monitoring, particulates, noise, and indoor air quality. Investigate for the presence of moisture and mold impacted building materials. Implement sampling strategies and submit media for required analysis. Evaluate sampling results and laboratory reports. Prepare draft assessment reports and develop recommendations associated with findings and worker exposures.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. Candidate will be required to adhere to strict company health and safety standards.

  • Perform site visits, conduct field observations, and collect field data consistent with established project scopes.

  • Assist in the collection of data and the preparation of reports, figures, and drawings.

  • Calibrate and maintain field monitoring equipment, such as direct-read sampling and air monitoring devices.

  • Assess for mold and biological contamination following water intrusion or water losses inside buildings.

  • Perform indoor air quality assessments, exposure monitoring, noise surveys, and other industrial hygiene assessments.

  • Assist in the performance of building inspections for asbestos and lead containing building materials in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

  • Conduct visual inspections and air monitoring related to site, building, and specific industry hazards.

  • May serve as team member or participate in meetings and communications with clients pertaining to specific projects/tasks.

  • Work with the Project Managers to understand site issues and project concerns at the earliest stage in the project.

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning.

  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

  • Ability to climb ladders, lift/carry equipment (up to 50 pounds), and stand for long periods of time.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or related science field.

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Certification:

  • DOSH Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) or Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC)

  • CDPH Lead Sampling Technician, Lead Inspector/Assessor and/or Lead Project Monitor

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
