Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Chemistry Technical Center Supervisor. This position is in Columbus, OH .

We are seeking a well-organized, detail-oriented, dependable team player to join our High Containment Chemistry Division as Chemistry Technical Center Supervisor. In this role you will work as part of a team to oversee technical staff supporting chemistry, biochemistry, aerosol science, formulation specialists and QC. In this role you will work alongside Researchers and Technicians to ensure delivery of high-quality technical data and the safe and compliant execution of study activities. We are seeking a candidate with strong technical background who will lead by example and support on-going lab activities. This job supports a deadline-driven environment, and we are seeking an individual who is used to working within tight time frames while still maintaining high-quality work and strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff by assigning job responsibilities, monitoring performance, providing recommendations to management with respect to daily operations, approving timecards and leave requests.

  • Facilitate and coordinate study resource availability by monitoring daily schedules of staff and equipment.

  • Plan, schedule and execute laboratory activities of studies within time and budget.

  • Ensure staff compliance with training, SOPs, health and safety regulations, to ensure all client expectations are met.

  • Partner with Health and Safety, Management, and facilities to ensure safe execution of high hazard chemical operations.

  • Define department equipment needs in conjunction with management.

  • Perform data accuracy and/or technical review of data.

  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies to increase productivity.

  • Develop SOPs, methods, plans, and procedures.

  • Train staff (laboratory and classroom) in various skills, tasks, and concepts.

  • Perform inspections of the laboratories for compliance with required regulations and SOPs.

  • Contributes to task orders and proposals by attending costing meetings and providing estimated labor, equipment and material cost.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.

  • Knowledge in safe chemical handling, chemistry and bioanalytical laboratory operations, inhalation operations, and quality control.

  • Experienced in operating and maintaining equipment, including GC, HPLC, MS

  • Demonstrated communication skills, detail orientation, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment.

  • Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

  • Must be willing to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) environment and able to wear appropriate respiratory protection.

  • Must be willing to be immunized with licensed and FDA approved vaccines and medications recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposure of biological agents.

  • Must be willing to participate in periodic drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher.

  • Working knowledge of GLP procedures, health and safety procedures, chemical laboratory operations, and other appropriate specifications/statement of work.

  • Experience training and supervising staff.
