Our NORAD Operations Group

Selected by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Division for Operations, Maintenance, and Sustainment (OM&S) of critical mission systems for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex (NCMC), we support the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II).

Since 2020, through the (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II), has provided:

Operations, maintenance, and Sustainment of current and legacy systems for the surveillance and cataloging of manmade objects in space.

Mitigation of orbital conflicts.

Threat warnings and control from airborne, land-based, and space-based systems for threat activities.

Operations and maintenance of classified communications.

Software development and integration.

NISSC II supports the classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability and legacy space C2 systems located at:

Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station (CMSFS), Colorado

Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), Colorado

Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska

Vandenberg Space Force Base, California

Numerous sensor and forward operator sites around the world

Description of Duties:

The CMAC System Administrator SME supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II). The candidate will:

• Implement/maintain various technical systems and serves as an interface to the supported community users.

• Provide guidance, direction, and training to others in the group. Serves as a backup to lead computer systems administrator.

• Build and/or debug complicated hardware and software to correct difficult problems using technically advanced problem-solving skills.

• Develop and implement system documentation and operating procedures.

• Identify and correct processing anomalies.

• Install operating system software, patches, and upgrades.

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues.

• Configure, optimize, fine-tune, and monitor operating system software and hardware.

• Perform system backups, recovery, and server builds.

• Provide systems administrator support to systems hosting complex operational databases, software configuration control, and system interfaces for computer systems.

• Manage file servers and network access to include analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting system anomalies.

• Perform and provide server, workstation, and system expertise including on-site and off-site travel.

• Coordinate and schedule system upgrades and maintenance.

• Provide guidance, direction, and training to others in the group. Serves as backup to other computer systems administrators.

• Perform and provide server and workstation expertise including on-site and off-site travel.

• Order replacement of new hardware and software including warranty claims.

• Other duties as assigned.

This position will be filled and work onsite in Colorado Springs, CO at Cheyenne Mtn Air Station

Basic Requirements:

• Must have 8 years of general work experience

• Must have 5 years of direct experience

• Must have 2 years of experience in Mission Assurance

• Must have a working knowledge and system administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments; Microsoft Windows operating systems (OS) administration and associated hardware; VMWare and system visualization; and Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies

• Must have an understanding of virtual machine and Remote Desktop.

• Must have a current DoD IAT Level II, or higher, certification (Sec+)

• Must have an active DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility

Desired Requirements:

• Have an Associate of Science degree in a computer field

• Have a VCP/VCAP certification

• Have experience in Cyber and Space Operations

• Have a basic understanding of network topologies and protocols

• Have experience with Remedy trouble ticket

This position is expected to pay $105,000 - $125,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Communication

• Will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment

• Work will be performed inside a large facility.

• Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot, dusty, cold, icy, and windy climates.

• Work may include travel with the military to participate in exercises in austere conditions

Physical Requirements

• Position will require extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.

• Position will require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs.

• Position will require climbing, working at heights, and in small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server racks.

• Position will require sitting, stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching for long periods of time.

• Position will require work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.

• Position will require lifting and/or transporting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

• There is a possibility that due to parking availability and the location of work, traveling moderate to long distances may be required.

Equipment and Machines

• General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

• Servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.

• Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment.

• May require operating motor vehicles.

Attendance

• Regular attendance following the established work schedule is mandatory.

• Shift Work is required to support operations.

• The candidate chosen for this position will work varying shifts

• It is important to be able to work any shift/designated hours required.

• You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.

• Position may require night and weekend work and could include travel with the military to participate in operations/exercises located in areas with field conditions

• You may be asked to continue performance in support of a war, contingency, or exercise

Travel

• Commuting between locations may be required daily (30-minute drive).

• May require operating motor vehicles for commuting between locations.

Other Essential Functions

• Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
