An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated molecular biologist with a passion for protein technology, to join the department of Protein, Cellular, and Structural Sciences (PCSS) at GSK's facility in Upper Providence, Pennsylvania. The primary responsibility of the department is to design, generate and validate biological reagents for discovery activities across all of GSK's therapeutic modalities. The department also provides the structural and mechanistic understanding of drug target, molecular recognition and mode of action to deliver the best molecule.

In this role, the scientist will function actively in a matrix team to deliver cell reagents to support work packages in multiple therapeutic areas including Oncology, Immunology, Infectious Disease, Neurology and Metabolism. The candidate will possess hands-on experience and a deep knowledge on variety of CRISPR genome editing strategies (KO, KI, base editing, activation/interference, prime editing), design and analysis tools.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Independently plan experiments, generate, analyse and deliver cell reagents using genome editing to multiple project teams Engineer cell lines, primary cells, iPSCs and iPSC-differentiated cells to build cellular models for assays with strong translational power Actively seek out to develop/adopt new technologies/editing strategies to make workflow more efficient Contribute to program strategies and plans in multiple matrix teams for decision making process to drive drug discovery Ensure compliance with all GSK R&D data integrity practices, ethics codes, standards and training, and safety training and practice Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: PhD in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Oncology, Genetics or related fields. Experience in CRISPR genome editing and analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Extensive cell culture including cell lines, primary cells, co-culture/advanced cellular models and iPSC. Experience in building advanced translational cellular models and assays in conjunction with genome editing for drug discovery. Practical understanding in genetics, target validation, compound screening and assay development. Documented proof of experience or publications in technology development in the area of genome editing or related emerging fields. Experience in functional genomics tools including sequencing (Sanger, Nanopore, PacBio and Ilumina), genotyping, primer/probe design, qRT-PCR, ddPCR and Snapgene/Benchling (or equivalent software) Ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams to drive decision making. Experience with programming skills and bioinformatics tools for sequencing analyses. Broad understanding in multiple different areas of biological sciences including oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, metabolic diseases and neurology. Ability to plan and execute multiple tasks concurrently and evaluate multiple scientific strategies in parallel where appropriate. Demonstrated strengths in high performance behaviours, such as building relationships, flexible thinking, and enabling/driving change. #LI-GSK
