Description

Under general supervision of the Water Distribution and WW Collection Manager, the Water Distribution and WW Collection Supervisor supervises and participates in the operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of the water distribution and wastewater collection system; directs; monitors, coordinates and evaluates subordinates ensuring proper, safe, and efficient operation of system; and ensures work activities are performed in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and per Texas Commission on Environmental Quality guidelines and regulations.

Principal Duties

  1. Prioritize water distribution and wastewater collection projects.

  2. Oversee, train, motivate and evaluate assigned staff; work with employees to correct deficiencies; identify and resolve employee concerns and/or problems; direct work; complete employee performance evaluations; and make hiring, terminating and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.

  3. Assign, supervise, and coordinate the activities of Water Distribution and WW Collection Crew Leaders and their subordinate personnel in the distribution of potable water and the collection and delivery of wastewater to the wastewater treatment facilities.

  4. Request utility locates for work planned.

  5. Review and interpret blueprints, maps, and construction plans.

  6. Investigate and resolve customer concerns, insurance claims, and accidents concerning the department.

  7. Advise and notify inspectors of problems discovered in the water/wastewater system.

  8. Verify and approve drawings, sketches, and the completion of work orders and projects.

  9. Arrange for required classroom instruction, including safety instruction, and conduct on-the-job training.

  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

High School Diploma or G.E.D., and four (4) years of experience related to area of assignment, or Associate’s degree and three (3) years of experience related to area of assignment, or Bachelor’s degree in related field; including one (1) year of supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Texas Class A CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement, and ability to maintain.

Class B Groundwater License or Class B Distribution License and a Class C Wastewater License or a Class III Wastewater Collection. License, from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and practices used in water distribution and wastewater collection system operation maintenance and construction. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction plans. Experience in the maintenance and/or construction of water and wastewater utility system

Available for emergency response.
