Job Description

The Equine Facilities Coordinator III, under general supervision, oversees routine, preventative, planned facility maintenance, and equine husbandry. Keeps buildings and pastures in safe, secure condition and in constant working order. Oversees mechanical and electrical operations, HVAC, architecture, and landscaping to ensure building is a comfortable and safe facility for coaches, student athletes, staff, guests, and horses.

Responsibilities:

-Management of the horse herd and facilities used by the Athletic Department – Women’s Equestrian Team.

-Communicate with the coaching staff, veterinarians, farriers and other providers regarding horse performance on a daily basis.

  • Prepares and manages feed, hay, other nutritional, and medical shipments , equipment checks, and troubleshooting.

-Supervision, coordination and management of the student worker barn crew

-Maintenance of Hildebrand Equine Complex to include the facility, pasture, and arenas.

-Maintain safe working conditions for Hildebrand employees, teams and visitors.

  • Receives and distributes supplies/mail/specimen from post offices, docks, bus depots, labs, and other vendors .

-Equestrian team show preparation.

-Develops and maintains the general supply inventory and equipment storage for the team facilities; including organizing and maintaining storage facilities.

  • Assists coaching staff with facility and equine requests , including furniture/equipment moving and assembly, horse transportation, and development of daily horse routines outside of scheduled practice and competition schedules.

-Post-season (SEC and National Championship) travel

-Occasional support of other facility users (AgriLife Extension, Equine Initiative, College of Veterinary Medicine)

-Serves as contact for after-hours facility emergencies

-Other job-related responsibilities as required

Required Education and Experience:-Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.-Four years of related experience in facilities, building maintenance, or facilities construction scheduling and inventory.

Preferred Education and Experience:

-Minimum of 5 years' experience in Equine Management.

Experience in horse show and/or athletics background.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:-Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

-Ability to promptly respond to on-site emergency calls.

-Ability to exert heavy force.
