In this position...
Use company and industry standard processes and tools to plan, design, manage, and utilize gauges for measurement of components and assemblies.
What you'll do...
Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance principles
Interpret data from inspection equipment and recommend responses
Ensure gauge calibrations; certification; and repeatability and reproducibility
Determine locators and measuring points - **Maintain position of sheetmetal panels based on global structural and design standards for the build
Verify tolerance/engineering specifications
Develop dimensional/product/process control plans
Define and conduct machine process capability analysis
Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices,
Control the critical inputs to the production process
Support of daily production, working closely with production team to drive all engineering actions across the machining/assembly line
Supports Maintenance Operating System (MOS) actions and team
Manage the development of processes through engineering
Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis
Supervise the activities of the dimensional control group, final fit area fit, and sheet metal repair team.
Build Team Leader and Team Member capability
Create a conducive work environment for the team(s) to complete their assigned responsibilities / tasks
Maintain a versatility matrix that ensures technical coverage at all times
Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products
Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processes
Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Vehicle Operations guidelines
Basic administration of supervisory responsibilities and documents
You'll have...
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to work any shift as well as rotating shifts and weekends
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Capable of assigning work to unionized hourly workforce and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to daily work assignments in terms safety, quality, and throughput
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
Even better, you may have...
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Industrial, Electrical/Automation, Mechanical engineering preferred
Body shop/stamping/paint/subassembly experience preferred
Safety and Quality experience preferred
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
Knowledge of constraint management principles
Microsoft Office knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)
Prior experience managing a unionized work force

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
