Job Summary

This Shipping & Transportation Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the distribution function of a plant to ensure the timely and cost-efficient delivery of inventory and finished products, ensuring that proper items and quantities are delivered to customers. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager with a dotted line reporting relationship to corporate fleet and logistics leadership but may be supervised directly by a Transportation Manager or Shipping Supervisor, depending on the organization of the specific facility.

Job Responsibilities

Process bills of lading, shipping documents, freight bills and other pertinent paperwork

Have everything ordered for the shipping office

Organize/develop shipping routes

Route and coordinate out-bound shipments with sales and production personnel to ensure timely and cost-efficient deliveries

Contact shippers, carriers and/or customers to expedite distribution and maintain business relationships

Communicate effectively with production and sales staff

Observe and report productivity of shipping department

Perform duties of the Traffic Manager and/or Shipping Supervisor in his/her absence

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Strong computer skills including MS Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience in a fast-paced environment

HS Diploma or GED

1+ years in an administrative support role in a professional environment

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as MS office, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology

Communicating effectively verbally or in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience

Strong organizational and time management skills
