Job Title: Quality Lab Technician
Job Description
The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for conducting a variety of scientific tests on raw materials, component parts, and finished products to analyze quality and ensure specifications are met. The individual in this role plays a critical part in the company, helping to prevent defects, reduce waste, and improve quality, output, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Ensure the chemistry, temperature, and pH of the plating baths are maintained through regular analysis.
Make chemical additions to tanks based on analytical tests and other requirements.
Maintain anodes, filters, and other physicals on the plating bath.
Ensure that all parts meet the quality requirements.
Maintain lab data within Lab Management Software (LMS).
Manage overall lab maintenance, including inventory control, raw material checks, moving drums, and organizing chemical storage.
Work closely with the production line as well as the quality assurance team to troubleshoot issues and recommend process improvements.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in chemistry and pH testing.
Experience with wet chemistry and quality control testing.
Knowledge of Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS).
2-3 years of experience in an industrial wet chemistry lab, ideally in metal plating.
Familiarity with x-ray machines, adhesion thickness tests, metal finishing, and metal plating.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma.
2-3 years of wet chemistry lab experience in an industrial environment.
Experience in metal plating is a significant plus. If not, must come from an industrial lab
Work Environment
The position operates on a 1st shift schedule from 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. The work environment is very industrial and dirty, not a typical white coat lab setting. The technician will have their own lab space located on the production floor. They may need to collect their own samples or receive them from a QC technician. The workload is standard for a 40-hour work week. This role is ideal for a self-starter, as current managerial changes mean there may not be constant supervision. This is a great opportunity for someone who is proactive and independently motivated.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
