Job Description

Assistant Director, Mental Health and Wellness

The Assistant Director of Mental Health and Wellness is responsible for the development of a comprehensive, campus-wide approach to mental health education and awareness, including the creation and implementation of a plan to promote student emotional wellbeing, increase community awareness of student mental health, and train community members on suicide prevention.

In addition:

  • Through the Well & Whole Initiative, this role assists the Director and consults with faculty and staff to infuse mental health and wellness into the classroom and work across the University.

  • This person will administer and monitor progress of all first-year students’ completion of a required mental health module.

  • The Assistant Director works closely with a Graduate Assistant who develops, manages, and implements social media marketing and promotion, strategies, and health communication.

  • The Assistant Director also engages in regular assessment activities and completes monthly and annual reports, and develops and implements training.

In order to create a more inclusive community within the Division of Student Affairs, each staff member is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $63,800 to $79,750; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • This role requires a Master’s degree in higher education, health education, health promotion, public health, social work, counseling, or a related field.

  • 1 year of experience in health or education field, public health, mental health counseling, social work, higher education; experience working with college students
