Position Overview

Shaw Industries is looking for an EHS Technician to support facility EHS operations by completing critical tasks designed to promote compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, Shaw Management System (SMS) requirements, and general industry Best Practice.This position is located in Chatsworth, GA.

DUTIES:

  • Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitors site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements per Plant WE/WP/W9/3 Safety Policy, Risk Management Procedures, and OSHA Standards.

  • Working knowledge of all SAFE system programs, the Environmental Handbook, and SMS.

  • Record safety and environmental data and compile it into reports for Management Team.

  • Serves as a source of information on health and safety issues to hourly employees.

  • Coordinate and develop training & drills for PEO Team.

  • Performs routine safety and environmental inspections and follows-up to ensure proper action has been taken.

  • Perform additional functions to health and safety activities.

  • Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors.

  • Coordinate Shift Safety Committee efforts.

  • Maintain and monitor facility SDSs in the HSI system and periodically audit to verify accuracy.

  • Update Safety website regularly.

  • Perform SAFE system compliance audits and tasks

  • Coordinate visits related to the safety eyeglass program and the safety shoe program

  • Participate in the Incident Investigation process and follow up on corrective actions

  • Assist FM Global with facility inspections

  • Assist the EHS Manager in maintaining an accurate inventory of all SARA Title III reportable chemicals and their quantities

  • Monitor contractor safety and adherence to Shaw requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned by Department Manager

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred

  • OSHA 30 hr General Industry certification and/or related safety certification (preferred)

  • Fall Protection Competent Person Certified (Preferred) or must be willing to obtain

  • CPR/First Aid certified by the American Red Cross or must be willing to obtain

  • Must be able to obtain Hoisting and Rigging Authorizing Person certification

  • Valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record (preferred)

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail

  • Familiar with Federal, State, and OSHA regulations

  • Ability to work within a team or independently as required

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
