Your role

Radio-Canada Île-du-Prince-Édouard is seeking an experienced Reporter/Editor for our Charlottetown station. Under the supervision of the Assignment Producer and reporting to the Senior Manager, News and Programming, for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador, you will be assigned to produce articles and stories focusing on P.E.I. news for our French-speaking audiences in the province and across the country.

To be successful in this role, you must be creative, have strong editorial judgment and news sense, and be able to find original, compelling stories in the public interest. You must be comfortable on radio and writing copy for our digital platforms but may also be required to occasionally report for television. All work will be governed by CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices.

What you bring:

  • University education (or equivalent) in journalism, communications or a related field

  • Three (3) years’ directly related experience that includes proven ability in the field and knowledge of TV/radio broadcasting

  • Relevant experience filing stories and delivering live hits

  • Strong interviewing, writing and narration skills

  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate and its Journalistic Standards and Practices

  • Knowledge of social, political, cultural and economic life in Atlantic Canada

  • Knowledge of issues facing P.E.I.’s French-speaking community

  • Excellent command of French (spoken and written) and good knowledge of English (spoken and written)

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • Strong news sense, editorial judgment and decision-making skills

  • Resourcefulness and initiative

  • Interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to plan, organize and co-ordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines; ability to work well under pressure

  • Creative, enterprising and inquisitive approach to researching and newsgathering

  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
