Citigroup Finance Reporting Group Manager - C14 - CHARLOTTE in Charlotte, North Carolina

The Global Regulatory and Capital Reporting – Reporting Analytics Change Management and Innovation organization is looking for a dynamic individual to help shape the future of the Finance organization. The Controllers Reporting Analytics Change Management and Innovation team is charged with leading Finance’s efforts to provide innovative ways of improving efficiency, productivity and enhancing quality to our customers, shareholders and regulators. Processes are comprised of those sets of activities that begin with defining and establishing appropriate data analysis, generative AI and machine learning innovation, implementing a comprehensive set of integrated financial tools and processes, which then culminates with instituting common and optimized financial / regulatory reporting processes.

Global Regulatory and Capital Reporting – Reporting Analytics processes are the starting point for a majority of Finance activities and serve as a feeder to other global processes and areas of consumption. The role holder will be a change leader and actively engage Regulatory Reporting teams leads to help transform Finance’s global process by using innovative and novel data analytics, conjoined with AI tools.

The role holder will champion business process changes by understanding current state processes, helping to define the target state, partnering with Technology on the delivery of required infrastructure and systematic capability, and with client-facing and shared services teams in the transformation to the target state. A strong data analytics background (with understanding of AI models), passion for driving change, navigating and overcoming obstacles, and working effectively independently and in team settings are critical to the role holder’s success and growth.

The position requires a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Core Responsibility is to identify potential strategic initiatives and business transformational opportunities for Regulatory Reporting, analyzing them to determine financial and strategic impact, prioritizing them and developing detailed implementation plans

  • Secondary Responsibility is to identify areas of focus to drive business optimization through insightful analysis (identification, sizing, execution & tracking) of Finance and Controllers’ processes focusing on Regulatory Reporting

  • Hunt for the right solutions by collaborating with team members, technology partners, and business partners to identify efficient and strategic solutions.

  • Manage large, transformative initiatives that impact multiple LOBs and/or products.

  • Define key outcomes for the project and ensure clear communication and agreement with relevant stakeholders

  • Communicate closely with business and technology partners to granularly define requirements and create systemic and/or manual processes to define solutions to satisfy said requirements

  • Lead the project end to end, driving solutions with evidence through the performance of data analysis activities and assessing the implementation of AI projects towards the strategic goals of the organization.

  • Independently query data from multiple relational databases to validate requirements utilizing Excel, SQL and/or Python.

  • Hunt for the right solutions by collaborating with team members, technology partners, and business partners to identify efficient and strategic solutions.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience executing and leading projects in Data or Business Analytics, Banking Consultancy, major Data Driven technology implementations or similar complex initiatives

  • Experience working with financial data and baseline understanding of financial instruments, especially those related to loans.

  • An understanding of financial & regulatory reporting, and credit risk management,.

  • Experience in an analytics utilizing relational databases with SQL tools

  • Experience working closely with IT and development teams

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint

  • Foundational knowledge of Python a plus

Education:

  • Bachelors degree, potentially Masters degree in Data Science, Engineering, Econometrics or Math

Controllers Transformation processes are comprised of those sets of activities that begin with defining and establishing appropriate data standards and ensuring readiness for consumers, standardizing the accounting and processing of transactions to financial systems, implementing a comprehensive set of integrated financial closing processes, which then culminates with instituting common and optimized financial / regulatory reporting processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the design, roll-out and governance of financial solutions, including:

  • Participates in formulating and setting strategic direction for the process, organization and architecture covering Finance across Citi businesses, products, functions and locations

  • Assists in setting business and information architecture standards for Finance

  • Plays a part in settling and operating necessary forums and frameworks to establish and govern policies and starts for global Finance processes

  • Participates in assessing and incorporating changing business, regulatory and market information needs into finance processes and applications

  • Manages complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas.

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of the business impact of process design and technical contributions.

  • Accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions.

  • Regularly interacts with peers within the firm and externally, including regulators and professional organizations.

  • Provides advice to internal clients on the implications of business trends, issues, operating environment changes and firm or business unit strategy.

  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.

  • Transform disparate processes into a streamlined, standardized and best-in-class global process, while understanding the requisite level of detail required for successful implementations. This includes the removal of legacy process and system silos

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, within the financial services industry highly preferred

  • Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function.

  • Requires communication and diplomacy skills in order to guide and influence others.

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment

  • Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions in the absence of detailed instructions.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • In depth knowledge of banking products / systems highly preferred.

  • CPA preferred
