Robert Half Assistant Controller - Distribution (LUV) in Chamblee, Georgia
Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our dynamic finance team in the distribution industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial close processes, and inventory management. Experience with ERP systems such as Sage and/or NetSuite is essential. This role requires at least 7+ years of professional accounting experience, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Close:
Manage and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Inventory Management:
Oversee inventory accounting, including tracking, reconciliation, and cost analysis.
Collaborate with operations teams to ensure accurate inventory reporting and process improvements.
Monitor and analyze inventory levels to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
Accounting Operations:
Supervise day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
Provide guidance and support to the accounting team, ensuring high levels of accuracy and productivity.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain compliance.
ERP System Expertise:
Leverage Sage and/or NetSuite to optimize financial reporting, streamline processes, and enhance decision-making.
Act as a key resource for ERP system upgrades, implementations, and integrations.
Train and support staff in using the ERP system effectively.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Leadership:
Work closely with the Controller and other leadership to support strategic initiatives and business goals.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 7+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on distribution or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and inventory accounting principles.
Proficiency in Sage and/or NetSuite ERP systems.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to analyze complex data.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in process improvement and system implementations.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally.
