ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Performs difficult technical work participating in the maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles and equipment through essential functions such as: inspects and services automobiles, trucks, and other equipment; serves On-Call on a rotational basis; performs preventative maintenance and repairs in accordance with established guidelines of Moore County Fleet Garage; performs proper diagnosis and repair of automotive, heavy truck, and equipment with strong emphasis on diesel truck repair; repairs include (but not limited) to gas and diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrain, steering and suspension, electronics, air conditioning, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; perform welding operations as required; orders and obtains necessary parts and supplies; operates forklift/unloads truck shipments; performs related tasks as required; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Thorough knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of automotive passenger cars, trucks, construction, and maintenance equipment Thorough knowledge and skill in the use and operation of shop tools and machinery Ability to detect by inspection any worn or broken automotive parts Ability to adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems Ability to interpret and work from sketches, diagrams, and installation and repair charts Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive experience in automotive and heavy equipment repair OR Associate Degree from an appropriately accredited institution in Automotive Technology and one (1) year of experience in automotive repair

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Drivers License Possession of a North Carolina Auto Safety Certification within six (6) months Possession of a Commercial Driver's License Class B valid in the State of North Carolina within eighteen (18) months of employment *This position is safety sensitive and subject to random drug screens.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly of fabrication of parts at or within arms length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat, extreme cold, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils, and wear ng a respirator.
