EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, BRAIN AROUSAL STATE CONTROL INNOVATION CENTER (BASCIC), Picower Institute for Learning & Memory, will direct establishment and operations of BASCIC and its related programs; oversee the BASCIC programs from conception to execution; sets along with Prof Brown milestones to be achieved by the Executive Director at designated points during these 12 months; directs and leads the development of strategic and operation plans for maintaining BASCIC; manages, cultivates, and grows key internal and external partnerships to increase support for BASCIC and its contributions to MIT/MGB and the broader community, including MIT School of Science and other Boston area institutions such as Harvard Medical School and industry partners; directs, writes, and executes comprehensive development management strategies and communications with significant impact; and lead efforts such as fundraising (both philanthropic and grant applications), business planning, programming and workshops.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field; a minimum of ten years of administration or operations experience and/or project/program management; robust strategic vision and the ability to lead high-level collaborations between academia, industry, and healthcare institutions; exceptional communication and advocacy skills to engage stakeholders at all levels, including policy makers, hospital administrators, and research teams; broad and in-depth understanding of principles and theories of multiple professional disciplines; experience leading projects, programs or functions; ability to work guided by mid- to long-term strategy and with minimal oversight; versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work constructively with cross-functional teams; and robust creativity and ability to devise solutions to problems that require multiple or innovative approaches.
