Job Title: Forklift Operator - Nights
Job Description
As a Forklift Operator in a LTL Freight Cross Dock in Calgary, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of loading and unloading freight. You will be operating a Sit Down Counter Balance forklift, moving pallets, and handling various paperwork. This position requires physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Operate a Sit Down Counter Balance forklift.
Assist with moving pallets as needed.
Unload and load trailers with freight using the forklift (60% of the day).
Hand bomb/move product by hand, up to 50lbs (40% of the day, varying based on shipments).
Handle bills of lading and other paperwork throughout the shift.
Assist other team members with unloading paperwork.
Help clean up the yard and perform other duties as needed.
Ensure the dock is clean and free of debris for safety reasons.
Essential Skills
1 year of experience operating a Sit Down Counter Balance forklift.
Experience in transportation, warehouse, or distribution companies (3PL or LTL).
1 year of experience loading and unloading trailers using a forklift.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs throughout a shift.
Adaptable to fast-paced environments and able to switch tasks with ease.
Valid forklift ticket (in-house or private; can be renewed through D&R ticketing if expired).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Safety vest (strongly recommended).
Leadership experience.
RF Scanner experience.
Waybill/Bill of Lading experience.

Work Environment
This is a very fast-paced environment where courier shipments are unloaded and packed for retail. The workspace is small, making maneuvering in and out of the docks challenging. You will be part of a team of 7-10 people, working closely together and reporting to the supervisor. The role involves various duties, including paperwork, swamping, and operating the forklift, requiring adaptability and the ability to switch tasks quickly. The facility has 68 bay doors and 16 forklifts. The night shift runs from Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM. The dress code includes outdoor wear such as jackets and sweatshirts, as the dock can get very cold. The team size on the floor ranges from 20-25 people across all shifts, including dockworkers and forklift operators.

The pay range for this position is $25.75 - $25.75/hr.
