Saint-Gobain Maintenance Supervisor in BUCKHANNON, West Virginia

The Maintenance Supervisor has overall responsibility for the rationalization, planning and scheduling of maintenance activities by providing direction & oversight of the autonomous/preventive/predictive maintenance systems to drive improved sustainable plant reliability in a manner consistent with Corhart’s Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives (VMVO). This position will drive Reliability Pillar activities and initiatives designed to create knowledge, leadership and expansion of WCM Reliability Methodology.
The role will focus on establishing measurements and maintenance KPIs that prioritize PM losses within manufacturing increasing machine/equipment throughput. The Maintenance Supervisor will coach maintenance associates on the proper method and use of tools to eliminate waste and losses, pilot/model selection, audit preparation, PDCA journal activities, and provide direction for route map expansion, pillar score and demonstrate verifiable results.
This role focuses on overall Maintenance Management System and is responsible for leading the implementation of the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Reliability Pillar Methodology and Autonomous Foundational Aspect across the facility. This position will focus on both reactive and proactive maintenance support for the Integrated Process Teams to improve equipment availability, capability, efficiency and asset utilization and is responsible for IPT/IST budgeting, spare part rationalization, and professional and technical development of his/her assigned salaried and hourly reports. The Maintenance Supervisor will also support the plant’s strategic initiatives including capital and non-capital equipment projects and provide leadership in the implementation and support of plant equipment/machine modifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
Accountable for safe maintenance activities. Will promote, teach and improve safety systems and procedures to employees and contractors such as LOTO, permits to work, safety audits etc.
Progressively improves the Professional Maintenance status of all equipment on a prioritized basis using WCM techniques and practices
Provides technical guidance and coaching on technical problem solving through the use of WCM tools to ensure root cause of issues are identified, eliminated and sustained to improve equipment reliability and capability
Oversees timely completion of breakdown root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation (EWO).
Works to ensure correct prioritization, timely completion of all work orders, and utilization of maintenance resources on a weekly or day to day basis
Works with the Storeroom Maintenance Technician to ensure spares inventory is optimized and coherent with the Professional Maintenance equipment requirements.
Manages the plant Maintenance Management System by ensuring it is accurate and updated daily. Uses data from the system to support continuous improvement of Reliability
Work with IPT Equipment Reliability Engineers to develop PM’s that drive improved reliability and AM’s that leverage the intimate knowledge of our equipment/machine operators
Directs and oversees AM deployment and maturity with focus on operator training & compliance to ensure equipment basic conditions are maintained
Implements management systems to provide effective control and maintenance of all plant equipment & services
Evaluate and identify the need for staff developments and provide training to cater for a better team and organization structure. Ensure all subordinates are fully briefed, counseled, trained and developed to meet IPT and IST objectives
Manages the Maintenance Apprenticeship program
WCM
Responsible for leading the implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Reliability Pillar
Leader of the WCM Autonomous Maintenance Foundational Aspect through training of operators and ensuring that equipment basic conditions are maintained
Drive 5S maturity in maintenance shop
Participates in new process/ project Early Equipment Management
Environmental, Health & Safety
Behavioral role model for all EHS standards; 5S & workplace organization practices; plant rules and safety regulations; and corporate Values and Attitudes.
Promotes, develops and mentors behavioral EHS initiatives to drive an autonomous EHS culture and objectively demonstrates commitment through SMAT / EMAT assessments.
Includes equipment/machine hazards and unsafe conditions as part of Preventive Maintenance to eliminate EHS risks (machine guarding, LOTO, confined spaces, Noise...)
Performs daily audits to check safety equipment as part of risk management (pressure vessels, safety valves, cranes, forklifts. welding, electrical, work permits, etc.)
Assesses machine/equipment EHS risks and improvement opportunities before making purchase request
Education/Work Experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering, or five (5) years of equivalent training and experience in maintenance supervision and/or skilled trades
3+ years of maintenance/repair services experience including 2 years of direct supervision experience
Familiar with manufacturing operations, production processes and equipment
3-5 yrs experience working in a WCM reliability environment, preferred
Practical/Technical Knowledge:
Ability to understand operating principles of our major process equipment - Required
Basic understanding of common maintenance measurements (MTBF, MTTF, MTTR) - Prefered
Basic understanding of the types of machine failures (function loss and function reduction) - Preferred
Basic understanding of the occurrence of failures (sporadic and chronic failures) - Preferred
Application of combustion analysis, mass & energy balance, machine & fluid dynamics - Preferred
Good understanding of CMMS systems - Required
Comprehensive understanding of Lean / World Class principles and practices - Preferred
Computer proficiency, including a strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) - Required
Licenses and Certifications:
AM/PM Certified - Preferred
Certified Green Belt or Black Belt and/or other advanced technical problem solving - Preferred
