Sr Eng Systems Engineer

Job Description:

Senior Systems Engineers

Job duties:

  • Lead the design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of embedded electronics hardware and firmware for mid- to high-complexity projects.

  • Negotiate, define, and maintain electronic technology and platform roadmaps enabling product roadmaps defined by product marketing.

  • Lead the definition of system and sub-system requirements and architectures including, but not limited to, creation of block diagrams, definition of hardware/firmware interfaces, configuration management, and creation of risk assessments.

  • Define and maintain electronic system architectures including, but not limited to, hardware and firmware interfaces and configuration management.

  • Support the development and refinement of tools and processes used in the execution of system engineering practices within an agile, high-velocity product development environment; support the system integration and transition thereof.

  • Collaborate on the development of system verification and validation strategies.

  • Provide candid and effective communications up, down, and across the organization on progress, barrier removal, and escalation of business risks/opportunities.

  • Demonstrate Milwaukee Tool’s culture of high performance and agility by independently creating Work Breakdown Structures for your work and driving to critical milestones.

  • Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organization’s needs.

  • Serve as a role model for Milwaukee Tool’s culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior engineers.

  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.

  • Independently track projects to ensure adherence to schedules and Milwaukee Tool processes.

  • Design and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related engineering field and 5 years of relevant experience or Master’s or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related engineering field and 2 years of relevant experience. Experience must include:

  • Systems engineering, embedded systems, or power electronics.

  • Application of system engineering methodologies in development of motor-driven systems or similar mechatronic systems.

  • Collecting and analyzing test data from electromechanical systems.

  • Analyzing and mitigating systems risks using structured risk analyses (FMEA, FTA, or STPA).

  • Functional or physical architecture development of multi-domain systems.

  • Decomposing and allocating system-level requirements to pertinent subsystems.

Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Partial weekly work from home is allowed on a regular basis.
