Overall Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to successfully manage the setup process for New and Relocation stores in addition to the execution of key, large scale, Merchandising Initiatives. The position will be responsible for managing team members, vendors, contract negotiations, the ordering of vendor and Tractor Supply owned inventory, budgeting, obtaining seismic permitting, and executing to city requirements. It will work cross-functionally to ensure New Stores, Relocation Stores, and Merchandising Initiatives are executed on time and in compliance with all Tractor Supply Company standards. This position is responsible for managing timelines and budgets for all assigned projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Hire, train, mentor, develop, and retain staff while cultivating a collaborative, creative, results-oriented work environment.

  • Work across functional groups to continually improve and streamline the New Store, Relocation Store, and Merchandising Initiatives processes to improve efficiencies.

  • Work, and hold the team accountable to work, efficiently in order to meet deadlines ensuring the maximum number of sales weeks at the least cost.

  • Review and monitor New, Relocating, and Merchandising Initiative store projects for compliance with Tractor Supply requirements and schedules. In doing so, conduct thorough reviews of all hard and soft copy documents as well as information before, during, and at the conclusion of the project ensuring all important digital communications are captured in the Workfront environment.

  • Work with key stakeholders to understand the related business strategies, objectives and priorities, while ensuring alignment in supporting the current business strategy

  • Coordinate and consult delivery of merchandising plans, fixtures, point of purchase materials, product, seismic permitting, planogram assignments, shelf strips, brand signage and more to ensure compliance to standards and an on-time store opening.

  • Manage the budget across multiple line items for the purpose of building out sales floor and merchandising plans for New, Relocating, and Merchandising Initiative stores as well as complete ongoing spend analysis to ensure actual expenses incurred remain at or under the budget.

  • Perform competitive solicitations reviews (RFP/RFQ) by preparing formalized bid information, soliciting vendors in competitive environment, testing top vendors, and ultimately selecting vendors that will ensure costs are kept low and all requirements are met.

  • Coordinate timelines and triage issues across various functional groups for each project, including Construction, Store Operations, IT, Marketing, LP, Inventory Management, Merchandising, and Logistics to ensure stores open on time.

  • Manage Direct Installation Vendor teams, Vendor Installation Project Managers, New Store Specialists, as well as product and print vendors to ensure the completion of projects while meeting contract requirements and Tractor Supply standards and timelines.

  • Review, challenge when needed, and approve New Store Set Up, Relocations, and Merchandise Initiatives invoices and pay requests for payment by Tractor Supply.

  • Manage the Closeout/Punch lists documents to ensure all items per the punch list are ordered and completely executed, and if they are not, direct the appropriate parties in various functional areas to ensure closure and that completed projects meet Tractor Supply standards.

  • Participate and contribute to continual cost, efficiency, and execution review of all New Store Set Up SOW/Budget and solicits regular feedback while in the office and in the field on site visits and during presentations at the Annual Construction Summit, Vendor Conference, and Third Party Summits.

  • Ensure compliance of Third Party teams and negotiates return trips and extended stays when standards are not met.

  • Coordinate quarterly with Space Planning, Merchandising, Floor Planning and Construction on updates to Standard Criteria Plans (SCP) to ensure Tractor Supply stores are built and constructed in a manner that will best serve TSC customers and team members.

  • Develop and conduct training and education classes throughout the year for current and future Store Managers and District Manager that will be opening a new store.

  • Initiate CER’s for each Merchandise Initiative project, providing necessary waivers and bids, following the CER submission guidelines.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 5 to 7 years of retail, project management or related experience required. Experience with contract negotiations preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, ACAD, Ariba, and Project Management software.

  • Ability to read and understand architectural and construction drawings with exposure to construction methods.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Ability to negotiate contacts.

  • Effective time management while handling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to work as a part of a team while also working independently, demonstrating sound judgement.
