We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to provide litigation support to four or more attorneys. The ideal candidate will join a high-volume, paperless environment that is both dynamic and rewarding. Our collaborative, team-oriented paralegals are knowledgeable about insurance defense. The selected candidate for this position shall work remotely to support attorneys throughout California.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engaging in a high level of customer service and interaction.

  • Gathering information from clients and Claims to prepare verified responses to discovery in litigation.

  • Using appropriate software to timely prepare and serve responses to discovery.

  • Tracking discovery due dates.

  • Assisting with the identification and preparation of documents for production, including document management, duplication, PDF creation and compilation, file conversion, labeling and logging of documents produced.

  • Preparing responses to “meet and confer” requests as needed.

  • Assisting attorneys as needed in preparation for trial.

  • Timely and accurate time entries/billing (1,100 annual billable target).

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tort experience in personal injury work is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal working on preparation of discovery responses.

  • Successful candidates will have experience in a high-volume litigation environment with experience in discovery response preparation, document production, data maintenance for clients and tracking due dates and deadlines.

  • Strong working knowledge of California Court systems the ability to look up court rules.

  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficiency with case management software.

  • Strong familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams).

  • Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills, especially regarding prioritizing work activities for multiple attorneys.

  • Must be able to manipulate electronic documents such as TIF, PDF and JPG formats.

  • Experience in paperless insurance defense law office or corporate department preferred.

  • Trial preparation experience is a plus.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$62,640 - $93,960
