LASP is seeking a Guidance, Navigation & Controls (GNC) system engineer for an asteroid exploration mission.

LASP is a world-renowned space science research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder employing over 700 scientists, engineers, support personnel, and students. The University of Colorado receives more NASA funding than any public university in the country, due in large part to LASP programs. Professional engineers work closely with scientists and assembly technicians in designing and building space flight hardware while helping mentor students as entry-level engineers working on these programs. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  1. Responsible for the development of the GNC pointing and controls requirements and algorithms.

  2. Responsible for the performance analysis and hardware specifications of the pointing and controls systems.

  3. Responsible for the integration, test and verification of the pointing and controls systems.

  4. Responsible for the development of the products and processes for flight operations.

What We Require

  • Master's degree in aerospace engineering (or equivalent engineering discipline) with 3-6 years' experience or PhD in Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent engineering discipline) with 0-3 years' experience in guidance, navigation, and control.

What You Will Need

  • Spaceflight control system development and analysis experience with fundamental understanding of controls/structures interactions.

  • Experience with Python programming, C/C++ programming, dynamical modelling and simulation systems.
