Idaho Power — located in vibrant downtown Boise, Idaho — is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Treasury Services team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does an Accounts Payable Specialist do for us?
Under limited supervision, analyzes and processes payment documents in an accurate and efficient manner, in accordance with company, state and federal policies and regulations and within deadlines. Researches and corrects exception transactions and balances daily work and ensures accurate and complete records are recorded and filed. Contacts vendors, customers, and employees to help resolve errors. Verifies all required receipts and documentation are attached and meet governmental regulations and company policies. Works with and responds to requests for information from auditors. Develops procedures for new processes and prepares reports for internal customers as needed.

A STRONG CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
Operating standard office equipment, including 10-key, fax, scanner, copier, etc.
Personal computer operation, specifically MS Windows, Excel, Outlook, and Word
State and federal policies and regulations pertaining to 1099 reporting and the application of sales tax
Preferred:
Cost center accounting
Sarbanes-Oxley
Corporate card program
Understanding of trade credit terms
Skills in:
Application of proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar
Composing basic correspondence
Proofreading
Quick and accurate data entry
Preferred:
Strong time management and organizational skills
Teamwork/collaboration
Ability to:
Understand and apply basic mathematical calculations and concepts involving fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.
Use enterprise-wide systems (Asset Suite, SAP and/or Peoplesoft) and personal productivity software, (specifically Excel and Word)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- 4 years of relevant work experience
OR
- Bachelors degree in related discipline
Preferred:
- Demonstrated use of Asset Suite, document management systems and/or SQL
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
