Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor II - Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Responsible to the Director or an Associate Director of the Student-Athlete Success Center, a division of Undergraduate Studies.
Responsible for developing and programming academic support for student-athletes participating within several teams.
Develops and assists with providing academic support for student-athletes.
Acts as the liaison between the SASC and the other academic departments on campus.
Develops innovative improvements to resources and processes to assist students in course selection, career development, and personal accountability for success.
Develops and assists with providing academic support for student athletes with a primary focus on priority sports and students with diagnosed learning disabilities.
Oversees a caseload of student-athletes requiring high levels of academic support to assist them in developing the skills necessary to be academically successful and cope with any learning deficiencies that may hinder their academic achievement.
Interpret psychoeducational evaluations and collaborate with the Student Accessibility Services office to provide the students with the necessary resources.
Oversees the SASC tutorial program and academic mentor program, which includes recruiting, training, and evaluating every member of the tutorial staff.
Acts as the liaison between the SASC and the other academic support services on campus including C.L.A.S.S. or other tutoring units.
Demonstrates mastery of advising knowledge across all colleges, models expertise in advising practice, and shows depth in professional engagement.
Work with assigned teams and coaching staff by providing regular communication with coaches of these assigned sports.
Demonstrates mastery of NCAA and Conference eligibility, including progress toward degree, GPA, and degree applicability of courses in the FAU curriculum.
Maintain records, track each student-athlete, and maintain current audits with each college and the Registrar.
Reach out to various Colleges and University Advising to ensure credits are appropriately applied.
Review the Degree Audit Reports (DARs) and assist students with petitioning courses, where appropriate.
Utilize early warning resources to proactively work with student-athletes to offer support.
Assists with the development and implementation of student-athlete recruiting services from various teams.
Monitors student academic plans to ensure timely graduation using advising, academic support, and student development theories, institutional data, and research findings.
Provides leadership in the professional development of advisors, maintenance of degree audit system, orientation, graduation, and student retention initiatives.
Leads professional development events and activities at the unit or campus level.
Other appropriate job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of advising or appropriate experience required.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.
Salary:
$51,700 per year.
