A Brief Overview
An Accounting Operations Specialist II reviews and processes daily exception items and balances Core Processing Applications back to the General Ledger ensuring that all outstanding items are accounted for and disclosed on the bank\'s financial statement. Resolves reconciling items in a timely and appropriate manner and reports discrepancies to the appropriate department supervisor/manager. Serves as primary or backup Fixed Asset system operator or Accounts Payable backup. Uses clear and concise communication with other departments to explain what is needed to resolve any discrepancy. Notifies Accounting Operations Lead of any risks/opportunities/issues identified while completing daily tasks or assisting branch personnel.
What you will do
- Review and process daily deposit exception items
- Process incoming and outgoing large dollar notifications
- Complete assigned reconciliations timely and accurately
- Assist with ACH returns and customer research requests when needed
- Ensure quality of work by demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness
- Research open items and troubleshoot accounting and processing issues
- Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
Other Qualifications/Requirements
- Requires a broader knowledge of NACHA Operating Rules, Bank Regulations, as well as the ability to complete more complex accounting and balancing tasks.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and/or college course work in accounting
- Working knowledge and experience with general ledger accounting
- Ability to adjust priorities quickly and manage all priorities effectively in order to meet processing deadlines
- Ability to work together with the Accounting Operations team and be proactive in supporting other associates in completing daily tasks and assisting branch personnel with questions regarding deposit processes.
- H.S. Diploma or GED and Minimum 1 Year Banking/Bookkeeping Preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
