Actalent Phlebotomist II in Bloomingdale, Illinois
Job Title: Float Phlebotomist II
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.
Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Ensure test requisitions or computer labels are 100% accurate.
Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
Follow specific procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimens during transport.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department training sessions.
Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Float to various client sites and perform blood draws on all patients.
Essential Skills
Phlebotomy
Blood draw
Venipuncture
Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
Oncology experience
Ability to work as a mobile phlebotomist
Valid Phlebotomy certification in IL
Minimum of 1 year work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
Strong newborn/pediatric-geriatrics draw experience
High School Diploma or GED
Reliable means of transportation
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bilingual in English/Spanish - plus.
Experience with hard-sticks
Work Environment
Float to: Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove, Park City, Schaumburg, Addison, Chicago, Downers Grove, Elmwood Park, Willow brook, Hinsdale, Western Springs, Bloomingdale, Skokie, Elgin, Aurora, Lagrange.
Hours are Monday-Friday from 6am-8pm (8 hr shift will fall between these hours) with rotating Saturdays. This position offers an opportunity to work at various client sites and gain exposure to different environments.
Mileage reimbursement is provided.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
