Full time, 3 days a week together in our Birmingham, Bristol or Manchester Digital Hubs (flexible 2 days remote wherever).

Our digital design team are the custodians of the BT brand online. To work efficiently, consistently, and innovate at scale, we’re building a Design System. The Design System provides design and code User Interface solutions as a kit of parts, ready to use out of the box for our product teams. We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and autonomous Design Systems Product Design Specialist to help us achieve our ambitious goals for BT Business Digital.

BT Business also uses the EE brand, and we’re transitioning our Design System to become a theme-able Headless Design System, capable of supporting multiple brands within BT Group as well as user-customisable modes for different platforms and digital experiences. We use industry-leading tools and techniques while reimagining the BT brand online as it refocuses from consumer to business-to-business. Role accountabilities:

As a Product Designer on this cross-functional team, you’ll generate components, patterns, interactions, and behaviours which define our design system and underpin BT’s products and user experience. This role also has a crucial educational and customer service aspect to help our internal teams use the design system.

You will cater to two types of users:

• Internal design and engineering teams: You'll collaborate cross-functionally to ensure teams are well-supported and have what they need to design their features.

• Customers and agents: Those who use and interact with our products.

You'll have the following skills & experience:

We are looking for an experienced designer who has developed effective design systems. You should be a self-starter who thrives on building intricate design systems and continually seeks ways to improve effectiveness. You should also have:

• Strong attention to detail and a natural eye for design

• Proficiency in crafting Figma components using variants and properties

• Extensive experience in product design, particularly in Design System and Design Language development

• Ability to take a project from ideation to completion, with exceptional UI skills and a good understanding of UX practices

• Systems thinking and the ability to make rational, logical design decisions

• Knowledge of modern and emerging web and mobile UI patterns and design tools

• Passionate about continuous learning and advancing your craft

• Good technical background with an understanding of User-Centred Design, and experience in applying research and usability testing methodologies

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams

• Experience working in agile squads

• Enthusiastic about design and a great team player

• Strong presentation skills and knowledge-sharing abilities

• Highly advantageous but not essential:

• Experience with Tokens Studio for developing multi-theme design systems

• Advanced knowledge of Figma Variables
