Vestis Services Operator Apprentice Maintenance in Birmingham, Alabama

Job Overview:
Performs work as part of a maintenance team in an industrial laundry facility. Follows the Market Center’s preventive maintenance schedule in accordance with the equipment manufacturer’s recommendation/ industry accepted best practices for all plant equipment. Supports an environment of continuous improvement by making/implementing suggestions/recommendations by manager. Maintain compliance with all company safety initiatives. Maintain compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws and regulation that affect the Market Center operations.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
--Repair carts by replacing wheels and welding, as necessary.
--Painting using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
--Pressure wash floors, walls, and equipment.
--Perform other duties as required or assigned by management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
--Assist Maintenance Techs with timely repair equipment.
--Assist Maintenance Techs with proper treatment of wastewater.
--Must be able to operate Forklift and Scissor Lift.
--Must be able to do landscaping/yard work and operate lawn equipment.
--Must be able to routinely lift and maneuver a minimum of 25 pounds without assistance. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time on concrete floor.
--Must be able to occasionally lift and maneuver 50+ pounds.
Experience/Qualifications:
--Prior experience in maintenance preferred but not required.
--Prior experience working in an industrial environment a plus.
Working Environment/Safety Requirements/Physical Requirements:
--Exposure to adverse temperatures which may include extreme hot or cold.
--The following physical activities are required: lifting, reaching, bending, walking, sitting, standing, pushing, and pulling.
--Must be able to routinely lift and maneuver a minimum of 25 lbs. without assistance.
--Tight deadlines that may require overtime are required.
--Overtime may be required.
--Notification of overtime may occur the same day that the overtime is required.
