POSITION SUMMARY

As a Buyer-Planner, you will play a pivotal role in our company's operations by managing the procurement and inventory of items purchased for resale. Your expertise in understanding Material Requirements Planning (MRP) data parameters, Procurement, and optimizing inventory levels will be critical to ensuring efficient supply chain management and meeting customer demands.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - TOP 4 ACTIONS FOR POSITION

Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

1 Inventory Optimization (35%):

  • Design and implement stocking models considering factors such as demand forecasts, lead times, logistics, and supplier capabilities.

  • Conduct regular reviews and adjustments to stocking models based on changing demand patterns to maintain optimal inventory levels.

  • Analyze inventory data and trends to identify potential risks or opportunities for improvement.

Procurement (30%):

  • Translate demand forecasts into actionable procurement plans to ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained to support sales targets.

  • Develop and implement a process for consolidating inbound shipments to enhance operational efficiency.

Supplier Relationship Management (10%):

  • Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and timeliness of deliveries.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including product management, demand planning, and procurement to ensure alignment of supplier management activities with business goals and objectives.

  • Monitor and mitigate supplier risks, such as supply shortages, quality issues, or geopolitical instability, through proactive risk assessment and mitigation strategies.

  • Champion ethical sourcing practices and sustainability initiatives within the supply chain, working closely with suppliers to promote responsible sourcing and environmental stewardship.

Collaboration (25%)

  • Facilitate clear two-way communication with the Product Management Team to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with Demand Planning team on forecasting.

  • Participate in regular meetings and discussions to share insights, provide updates on inventory status, and address any issues or challenges that may arise.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

  • Proven experience in procurement, inventory management, or supply chain roles, preferably in a retail or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and data parameters.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

  • Proficiency in inventory control techniques and inventory management software.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
