Job Description: Last Mile Routing & Planning team is at the heart of our growing logistics network in Last Mile at Amazon. We’re challenged to constantly improve and innovate on our vehicle routing software and inputs that help build efficient routes to better support fast delivery to customers. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer with preferred background in design and development of scalable AI and ML systems and services, deep passion for building ML-powered products to join our Time estimations. As a member of our team, you’ll work on cutting-edge projects that directly impact billions of packages delivered by Amazon. This role will provide exposure to state-of-the-art innovations in AI/ML prediction systems and challenges you to scale the models for large scale inference.

Key job responsibilities

You will work closely with science teams to bring research to production. This is a role that combines engineering knowledge, technical strength, and product focus. It will be your job to implement novel ML systems, product integrations, and performance optimizations. Key job responsibilities include:

Design and build scalable infrastructure that enables training, evaluating and deploying machine learning models at large scale.

Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.

Work closely with scientists to process massive data, scale machine learning models while optimizing.

Coding, HLD/LLD documentation, process and quality of service improvements, and mentoring team members

Successful candidates will be strong developers who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. The team requires creative engineering balanced with high quality and customer focus

Help define engineering best practices and provide technical mentorship to other members of the engineering team direct management of solution architecture, coding, HLD/LLD documentation, process and quality of service improvements, and mentoring team members

Help drive the architecture and technology choices that enable a world-class experience

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
