The Manufacturing Process Operator(Contract Opportunity) will manufacture and package food to specific standards using highly automated equipment, ensuring a quality product is produced in a safe and efficient manner. Manages the efficient and safe production and packaging within the peer operators’ group and will regularly interface with Maintenance Mechanics.

This person supports, participates and works within a High-Performance Team structure including providing feedback on performance, recommendations for employee selection; conduct management and corrective action while maintaining a positive employee environment. This person will receive guidance and coaching from the team lead and present to leadership team on process improvements and budget requests. They will also present and collaborate with functional specialists to address needs, concerns, and performance.

Please note this is an on-site contract opportunity in our Belleville Canada Manufacturing plant. The contract will be a 1 year duration with possibility of conversion to a permanent/full time position to be considered.

Working Relationships

  • Reports to the Team Leader.

  • No Direct or Indirect Supervisory responsibilities

  • Manages the efficient and safe production and packaging within the peer operators’ group.

  • Regular interface with Maintenance & Sanitation teams.

    HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Operate and maintain the processing and packaging equipment on any line and equipment, ensuring a quality product is produced in a safe and efficient manner in line with standard operating procedures. Including the sanitation and cleaning. Set up, breakdown, TPM of all equipment.

  • Perform appropriate audits (i.e. Quality or Safety etc.).

  • Participate in committee functions (Safety, continuous improvement, KWS Centre teams, shift teams etc.).

  • Trouble shoot and perform basic equipment repairs and operator preventative maintenance programs.

  • Manage data input and transactional information into the appropriate systems (SAP, PI OMS etc.) including analysis of the data, shift transition communications and route cause analysis.

  • Serve in a functional or rotational role. i.e. functional roles; Relief Lead; Quality, EHS, Cost, service or rotational roles, EHS, QFS MR or interim lead.

  • Influence among the team.

  • Recommendations for process improvement through a continuous improvement process

    YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

  • Preferred: College Certificate / Diploma in manufacturing / technology field and 2 years manufacturing work experience or completion of the food process operator apprenticeship program or a minimum high school diploma AND 7-10 years related manufacturing experience.

  • Strong team / communication skills.

  • Comfort with computers and automation and the ability and willingness to learn.

  • Demonstrated use of Microsoft Suite of Computer Applications in an automated manufacturing environment would be an asset.

  • Ability to make shut down decisions for Safety, Quality and food safety.

  • Self-Driven work ethic.
