Western Union Vice President, Risk and Compliance Engineering in Austin, Texas

As the Vice President of Risk and Compliance Product Engineering at Western Union's technology team, you will play a critical role in leading Product Teams and shaping the future of our solution.

This position is essential for the future of the Western Union. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Chief Compliance Officer, other C-Suite Executives within business, compliance organizations to define strategy and vision of WU’s compliance platforms supporting key compliance programs like KYC, regulatory reporting, risk analysis fraud detection, AML operations, trade surveillance and more to address current challenges and paves the way for our future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the product engineering team, ensuring the development of innovative solutions aligned with our business goals.

  • You will be responsible for developing the product technology strategy and delivering product solutions that enable simplification, flexibility, reuse, and scalability.

  • Lead scalable product build out to accelerate time to market for product launch, harness scale advantages for cost efficiency, and enhance reliability.

  • Influence product solutions and architectures and work closely with executive leadership to drive technology initiatives.

  • Lead product engineering teams in developing technology strategy, including coding practices, continuous integration, automated deployments, platform scalability, and service orientation, ensuring consistency in processes, architecture, security, and technical governance with the goal of building best in class products, create great developer experience and meet go to market strategy.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, to guarantee the smooth integration of product APIs and services.

  • Establish robust reporting, metrics, and benchmarks to drive timely, high-quality, continuous delivery. Implement top-tier security and compliance practices to uphold the highest standards throughout the development process.

  • Work with regional compliance vice presidents to envision product capabilities to empower them to comply with regional regulations

  • Partner with digital business and digital risk team to solution and deliver state of the art fraud detection technologies

  • Partner with senior leaders in Platform Organization to provide technology support on WU’s business opportunities including M&A activities

  • An engaged executive who skillfully coaches the team to tackle complex challenges, guaranteeing scalable solutions that adapt to future architectural changes and designs.

Experience & Skills

  • 15+ years of experience in Technology engineering, architecture, design, and software development with 5+ years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in a financial, Risk and Compliance services is essential.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current industry trends, technologies, and best engineering practices.

  • Skilled in composable architecture and proficient in the technical components of various platforms.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Experienced technology leader with a deep understanding of innovative technologies.

  • Record of achievement in defining group architecture artifacts for complex solutions.

  • Skilled in developing both back end and front-end solutions using a variety of architectural approaches.

  • Bachelor’s/ master’s in information systems, Computer/Data Science, IT, Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
