Job/Position DescriptionSWI Supervisor I or II Performs highly complex (senior-level) consultative services, technical assistance, and supervisory work. Work involves planning, developing, and implementing an agency program and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, or the general public. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The position trains and supervises new Statewide Intake Specialists during SWI BSD (Basic Skills Development)training. The position also supervises a unit of Statewide Intake Peer Training Specialists. This position may assist in the training of other Statewide Intake staff. The position directs casework activities to ensure consistent and appropriate application of policies and procedures in the intake of reports received through the protective services statewide abuse hotline for reporting abuse and neglect of children; abuse, neglect, and exploitation of elderly or disabled adults; processing family violence calls and providing resources. The position interacts routinely with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services staff, representatives from various organizations, and the general public. Essential Job FunctionsManages, and develops staff through review of performance data, conferences, training, and performance appraisal. and#149;Reviews intake reports to ensure content is sufficient to assess location, risk, and degree of harm, and establish priorities and case handling. and#149;Provides written feedback regarding how intake workers meet performance standards in obtaining, assessing and documenting information obtained from reporters of abuse, neglect and exploitation. and#149;Interprets program policy and procedures to unit staff, other Department of Family and Protective Services staff, and the public. and#149;Assists in the development of training curriculum on program standards and policies and in the facilitation of the training for intake staff. and#149;Selects staff for hire based on review of job applications, interview responses and reference checks. and#149;Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit and program operations. and#149;Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts. and#149;Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policyRegistrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsNone required.
