Last mile Flex mobile application is one of the fastest growing strategic businesses within Amazon. Our team is responsible for creating the best delivery experience for transporters wherever they deliver packages using their favorite Android or iOS devices. As a Software Development Engineer within the Flex Mobile Foundations organization you will contribute to the next generation mobile foundation to power fast, fluid, and interactive experiences on mobile devices worldwide.

Key job responsibilities

As a key member of the Last Mile Mobile Platform (Tumbler) team you will be an innovator, playing a direct role in shaping and building products that partner teams rely on and customers love on top of Amazon's technology. A day in the life

The team is a strong, close-knit group with a focus on learning, growing, and delivering results together. We have regular architecture and knowledge shares, and our high level of team trust makes this the ideal environment to lead and grow to the next level. As the platform team we build the backbone of the Amazon Flex App, supporting 12+ feature teams, hundreds of thousands of transporters and millions of deliveries. Our on-call rotation is carefully managed, and rarely involves work outside of office hours, as we have a low defect rate and don't own any backend services.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 1+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or equivalent background in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design and systems architecture.

  • Application development experience on iOS or Android (Android preferred as this position will lean towards Kotlin/Android development)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
