Job Title: Software Engineer - C++

Job Description

As a Software Engineer, you will develop and maintain C++ and Python-based backend applications for satellite ground systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement robust server-side solutions. Your role involves modifying and improving existing codebases for enhanced performance and scalability, conducting software design and code reviews, and contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to Agile principles. Additionally, you will participate in system integration and project milestone completion under the guidance of supervisors, while keeping abreast of advancements in relevant technologies to drive continuous innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain C++ and Python-based backend applications for satellite ground systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement robust server-side solutions.

  • Modify and improve existing codebases for enhanced performance and scalability.

  • Conduct software design and code reviews, integrating best practices and innovations.

  • Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to Agile principles.

  • Participate in system integration and project milestone completion under guidance from supervisors.

  • Keep abreast of advancements in relevant technologies to drive continuous innovation.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and six (6) years of relevant software engineering experience.

  • Experience with C++ software development in a Linux environment.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required prior to the start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Python.

  • Experience working with the Atlassian Tool suite.

  • Experience developing software in Agile and/or DevOps environments.

  • Previous work on satellite GPS software is desirable.

  • Experience troubleshooting or debugging software.

  • Experience with unit and automated functional test concepts.

  • Experience with some areas of satellite ground system software such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, or flight dynamics.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $80.00/hr.
