Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Community Outreach Aide - Lead ($52,819 - $79,234 Annually) in Auburn, Washington

JOB SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, provides outreach and social service assistance in support of the Clean and Sober Outreach and General Assistance program.The lead position promotes community integration, resiliency and quality of life objectives with clients and/or family members. When appropriate and helpful to the client, the community outreach lead will coordinate social service assistance with other departments providing services to individuals and families of all ages.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Through telephone calls or home visits, interviews and identifies clients’ needs, for transportation or social service assistance.

  • Informs clients of available services and refers to appropriate service provider or community resource; assists clients by filling out forms and advocating or intervening on their behalf, if necessary.

  • Coordinate the transports and/or accompanies clients and/or families to obtain medical and/or alcohol and drug treatment or other required services.

  • Conducts periodic home visits to monitor client needs.

  • Providers training and guidance to additional outreach staff in a variety of topics

  • Organizes and participates in community events; attends various committee meetings.

  • Maintains confidential files and records.

  • Keeps accurate and detailed documentation, involving patient care and service provided.

  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all protected health information in accordance with the Division’s Policies and Procedures, and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Responds and supports outreach staff whenever needed up to and including requests happening after regular business hours

  • Collects and maintains accurate records of outreach activities and participant information.

  • Prepares reports on program outcomes and community impact.

  • Utilize data to improve and adapt outreach strategies and programs.

  • Maintains confidential files and records and maintains the privacy and confidentiality of all protected health information in accordance with the Division’s Policies and Procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

Required:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience in a community services organization is required.

  • Able to obtain 40 hours of training to become a Certified Peer Counselor through HCA within 6 months of hire or at a time set by the tribe.

    Special Requirement:

  • Incumbent must be free from substance abuse for the last two (2) consecutive years. Pass required background checks.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

Knowledge of:

  • Understanding of behavioral health issues, SUD and MH conditions, and treatment options.

  • Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and social services resources.

  • SUD assessment.

  • Community Resources

  • Harm Reduction and Interventions

  • Medicated-Assisted Treatment

    Skilled in:

  • Oral and written communication.

  • Problem-solving and client interviewing.

  • Working with diverse populations.

  • Electronic Health Record software provided by the agency

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a diverse community.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.

  • General computer proficiency and ability to use electronic health records in a timely manner.

    Ability to:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; push and pull; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.

Licenses or Certifications Required

A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe. Be able to obtain and maintain First Aid and AED certification at time of appointment or at time set by the Tribe. Certification as Peer Counselor by the State of Washington is highly preferred.
