Description
This position is primarily located at the Mays Landing campus, but requires shifts at any Atlantic Cape location. This is an “essential staff” position in accordance with college policy and the bargaining unit agreement. It requires duties to be performed in all weather or emergency conditions.
Examples of Duties
Reports to the Supervisor of Facilities Operations with the Ground Foreman providing oversight and delegation of duties
Performs a variety of grounds, labor maintenance and heavy cleaning projects at all Atlantic Cape locations
Moves and relocates college equipment and furniture
Operates heavy floor cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, extractors and strippers
Performs heavy housekeeping, kitchen cleaning and grounds services as assigned
Assists in installation, repair and maintenance of irrigation systems, all roads and parking areas
Replaces all types of lighting lamps and ballasts
Mows grass
Performs all aspects of snow/ice removal and treatment
Operates mechanical motorized equipment
Sets up chairs, tables, etc.
Performs related duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent grounds/maintenance experience
Experience:
Experience performing grounds work and landscaping
Experience working with sprinkler systems preferred
Competencies and Skills:
Ability to perform heavy project cleaning
Ability and willingness to perform work under adverse conditions
Skills in the use of simple tools grounds equipment and custodial equipment
Knowledge to read, write and understand written work orders and operating instructions
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged period of s standing and walking
Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or kneel
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Supplemental Information
Terms of Employment:
Must pass an employment physical examination
Possession of valid New Jersey driver’s license
Must have a telephone and reliable transportation
This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
