We are looking for a Software Engineer II who is passionate about modern web application development, building planet scale distributed systems, creating open-source development platforms, and designing elegant experiences for organizations and employees that work seamlessly across device boundaries and host environments. We are dedicated to empowering all employees to share their voice and stay connected in a hybrid world. Usage of our platform and experiences is doubling every 18 months, and with that kind of growth comes the challenges of scaling our architecture to meet the demand of our customer base.

We rely heavily on open-source frameworks such as React and React Native, as well as Azure, C#, and REST services. We partner closely with multiple teams across Microsoft including Teams, Azure, Exchange, FAST, O365 Apps, O365 Suite, and Yammer.

Join us at this pivotal time for our team as we launch the new Viva Connections application for connected employee experiences and incubate new offerings in the Microsoft Viva suite, expand our SharePoint Framework developer platform, and continue to onboard millions of new end users who are adopting our modern web architecture. Responsibilities

We are seeking front-end engineers who are passionate about open-source software, the developer ecosystem, publishing systems, and user experiences. In this role, you will leverage your creativity and innovation to build rich customer experiences specifically within the SharePoint content creation space. Your responsibilities will include the design and implementation of new SharePoint features, defining architecture, and overseeing the rollout process. You will also need to analyze and incorporate feedback from internal testing (dogfooding) and customers. A deep appreciation for big data and data analytics systems is crucial for understanding customer trends and user engagement. Applying engineering best practices, you will build resilient, fault-tolerant distributed systems that support mission-critical SharePoint portals and web experiences. Candidates should have hands-on experience in building and shipping world-class software, with a solid understanding of modern web technologies, front-end development, and/or full-stack architecture.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of industry experience in Front-End Software Development

  • Experience driving technically challenging solutions and mentoring peers

  • Passionate about software engineering, with an emphasis on agile development grounded in data driven customer innovation

  • Ability to empathize with our end-users’ needs and want to engage to help define their key experiences

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
