Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
With supervision, performs various laboratory procedures on patient specimens to assist in the diagnosis, study, treatment, or prevention of disease.
Calculates and reports results. Performs preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Evaluates the validity of test results by comparing them to previous results and other laboratory data.
Maintains complete and accurate documentation of patient information, test results, and equipment operation.
Properly uses, performs preventive maintenance on, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and instrument malfunctions.
Observes safety policies and procedures.
Analyzes patient specimens, prepares reagents, and assists in ordering and inventorying lab supplies.
Performs venipuncture and phlebotomy.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- An associate's degree in a Medical Laboratory Technician program OR 60 college semester hours which includes chemistry and 13 months of training in an AMA approved program OR two years of college and graduation from a 12 month military laboratory training program.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
