Washtenaw Community is seeking a highly motivated and visionary individual to serve as the inaugural Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education. Reporting directly to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, successful candidates will have proven experience in academic administration and a passion for innovation.

Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Career and Technical Education plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our career and technical education programs, fostering innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of academic quality and student success. This role will provide administrative leadership and direction to departments including direct supervision of assigned faculty and staff. This position reports directly to the Dean of Career and Technical Education.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: · Provide hands-on leadership and support the strategic direction of all career and technical education (

CTE) programs offered by the institution.

· Directly supervise full-time and adjunct faculty and staff in the following departments and areas -- Advanced Manufacturing, 

HVACR (including Construction Management), Transportation Technologies, and Welding and Fabrication.

· Collaborate with faculty, staff, industry partners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement innovative curriculum and instructional strategies that meet the needs of a diverse student population.

· Oversee program development, review, and assessment processes to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.

· Lead efforts to recruit, retain, and support a diverse faculty and staff who committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, and meet qualifications per accreditation standards. Direct department chairs on the hiring and scheduling of PT faculty and support staff based on identified needs.

· Provide support and direction to all industry advisory boards ensuring they are robust and representative of our regional employers and sectors.

· Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among faculty and staff.

· Collaborate with academic and student support services to ensure seamless pathways for student success from enrollment to graduation and beyond.

· Following college policies and procedures, assist in conducing disciplinary investigations of student and faculty misconduct and take appropriate action.

· Partner with Workforce Development and the Center for Career Success to effectively market and represent 

CTE programs with external stakeholders and industry partners.

· Manage budgetary and instructional equipment resources effectively and responsibly, in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.

· Coordinate and manage processes, procedures, and activities that ensure the smooth, accurate, and effective business of the Career and Technical education programs while meeting and maintaining the strategic goals, policies, and
