Robert Half Staff Accountant in Agoura Hills, California

Description We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the construction/contractor industry. This role is based in Agoura Hills, CA, United States. The Staff Accountant will be involved in various accounting duties, with a focus on construction project budgeting, loan preparation, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate on the development of detailed construction project budgets

• Manage budgets by closely monitoring actual costs and the percentage of completion

• Prepare loan/funding draw request for lenders and equity owners

• Carry out accounting duties throughout the project, including booking journal entries and forecasting cash flow

• Generate monthly financial packages for multiple construction projects along with supporting schedules

• Reconcile bank and loan statements

• Prepare cost analyses by interpreting project financial data and information

• Report any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with lenders, contractors, vendors, and suppliers

• Utilize skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, WIP - Work In Progress, and Construction Accounting. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar position within the construction industry

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Demonstrated experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Proficiency in managing General Ledger

• Proven ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries

• Experience in Month End Close procedures

• Familiarity with WIP - Work In Progress accounting in construction

• Prior experience in Construction Accounting is mandatory

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.
